1. Content Quality Expectations
- Value-Driven: Your content should provide value to our audience by educating, inspiring, or entertaining them. Posts should align with the themes and topics covered on Elicit Folio, such as:
- Food & Beverage
- Travel
- Hosting
- Expertise: Write with authority and accuracy. If you’re not an expert on the topic, please include thorough research with credible references.
- Clarity: Use concise, easy-to-read language, free from jargon or overly complex terms. Aim for a conversational and relatable tone.
2. Plagiarism and Originality Requirements
- Original Work: Submissions must be 100% original and unpublished. Posts previously published on other blogs, websites, or platforms (including your own) will not be accepted.
- Proper Citations: If quoting or referencing other works, cite your sources accurately and provide proper attribution (e.g., links, titles, and author names).
- Plagiarism Policy: Content found to be plagiarized will be removed immediately, and you will be barred from submitting future content. Contributors are responsible for ensuring their work is plagiarism-free before submission.
3. Word Count, Tone, and Formatting
- Language: All content must be submitted in English.
- Titles: Please keep your title brief, ideally no more than 10 words and/or less than 100 characters. Titles should grab the reader’s attention. Therefore, please ensure submission titles clearly communicate the topic and conveys the essence of the article to our readers.
- Word Count: Posts should be between 800 – 1,500 words. Longer pieces will be considered if the content is particularly in-depth and relevant.
- Tone: Write in a conversational, positive, and engaging tone that reflects Elicit Folio’s style and audience preferences. Please avoid using all CAPs in any submissions.
- Acronyms: Please use the full version of an acronym before using the acronym in your article to help with audience understanding
- Formatting: Use subheadings with bold font, bullet points, and short paragraphs to make your content scannable. Ensure proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Submission formats should be shared as seen on the blog (single space, H2 and H3 headings, no indentation, one extra space between paragraphs).
- Paragraph Lengths: To ensure SEO optimization, paragraphs should not exceed 2-4 sentences. Shorter paragraphs enhance readability, especially on mobile devices, and keep our readers engaged.
- Media Format: Included photographs should be sized as 1500 x 1125 px. Supported image formats are compressed .png or .jpeg images, not to exceed 500 KB as this affects page loading time. Links for embedded videos should be included. Supported streaming platforms are Youtube, Tiktok, Instagram, or Vimeo.
- Links: You may include up to two backlinks to your own website or relevant external sources, provided they enhance the article’s value.
4. Media Usage (Images/Videos) and Affiliate Links Policies
- Images and Videos: You may include media in your post, provided:
- Images are high-quality, relevant, compressed, and properly attributed if sourced from third parties.
- Please include at least 2-4 images (.jpeg or .png) that are relevant to your submission post.
- Videos must be your original content or shared via platforms like YouTube with proper permissions.
- Stock images must come from royalty-free sources or have proper licensing.
- When submitting, please provide appropriate credit. Our editors reserve the right to approve or dismiss the image(s) that accompany every piece.
- Affiliate Links: If you wish to include affiliate links, you must disclose them in your submission. Affiliate links are subject to review, and revenue-sharing agreements will be established prior to publication.
5. Promotion and Exclusivity Rules
- Exclusivity: Once your post is submitted and published on Elicit Folio, it becomes exclusive to our website. You may not republish it elsewhere, in part or in whole, including your own website or blog.
- Promotion: You may promote your guest post by sharing the published link on your website, social media channels, or email newsletters. However, our platform is not used to purely advertise to our readers. Tones of selling products will not be accepted on our platform.
- Author Bio: Include a short bio (2–3 sentences) and a clear photo (in portrait orientation) for the author section. You may include one link to your website and primary social media profile. If your submission includes an interview, you may also submit the interviewer’s bio, in the same Word document as your blog submission.
6. Submission Process
- Send your completed submission via Word document (.doc or .docx) to our submission link found here (or this link will be emailed to you). Google documents and .PDFs will not be accepted. Please include any images, videos, and sources you would like incorporated.
- All submissions are subject to review. You will be notified via email of acceptance, suggested edits, and publication timelines. We customarily schedule blog posts 30 to 45 days out, so if you are writing in reference to a particular season or date, please plan ahead. Please allow up to 10 business days for submission reviews.
- Once a submission is approved, there may be a brief back-and-forth period before content is posted to Elicit Folio. In some cases, editorial feedback may be given to enhance readability and accessibility to our community.
- Elicit Folio believes in providing neutral content that’s acceptable for all customs and cultures. Therefore our website does not accept holiday, political, or religious specific content. All content must be positive, comforting, and motivational for our readers.
- Before publication, you will be required to sign an agreement outlining our terms, including revenue-sharing details if affiliate links are included.
