Switch up your ordinary green beans and turn them into a savory masterpiece with this easy garlic roasted green beans and bacon recipe! This past weekend, I was searching for a new and unique way to cook my fresh green beans. Being from the south, I typically slow cook my green beans over the stovetop with smoked meat. However, I wanted to serve a green bean dish that was tangy, sweet, and savory.

To ensure you create the most delectable roasted green beans with bacon, take some time to apply a few of these simple roasting tips:

  • Preheat Your Oven: For the best roasting results, always preheat your oven to a high temperature, and not the default 350 F. I recommend roasting your green beans between 400 F to 425 F (205 C to 220 C). The higher the heat, the green beans will extract its own natural sugars, resulting in a nice caramelization.
  • Season Well: Don’t be shy with seasoning your green beans, especially when roasting. This recipe incorporates the savory flavors of minced garlic, onions, bacon, salt, pepper, brown sugar, and more! Infusing seasoning and flavor into roasted green beans are important to achieve flavor in every bite.

  • Dry Your Beans: The crispy texture achieved from roasting green beans or other vegetables is literally one of my favorite parts of this recipe. To achieve optimal texture , be sure to thoroughly dry your green beans after washing. If you try to raost green beans while leaving excess moisture, your green beans will end up steaming in the oven instead of roasting.
  • Don’t Overcook: Be sure to keep an eye on your roasted green beans to prevent overcooking. Cooking times may vary slightly for this recipe depending on the size of your green beans. You want them to be tender on the outside, but not shriveled looking.
  • Don’t Crowd the Pan: To achieve the best roasting results, spread your green beans out in a single layer on a large baking sheet. If you pile the green beans on top of one another over crowd the pan, your green beans will begin to steam instead of roasting.
