There’s something about the fall season that invites slower evenings, cozy sweaters, and gathering around the table with delicious drinks in hand. During the autumn months, I test and refine seasonal cocktail recipes using fresh apple cider, warming spices, and rich flavors that highlight the best flavors of fall. From happy hour at home to dinner parties and family dinners, these fun fall cocktails are crafted with simple ingredients you can easily find at the grocery store, balanced flavor profiles, and just the right hint of spice for chilly evenings and fall gatherings.

Fall cocktails are all about seasonal flavors, warmth, and bright acidity to balance rich ingredients. You’ll often see these staples appear again and again in autumn cocktails and seasonal drinks:

  • Fresh apple cider and apple juice
  • Maple syrup, brown sugar, simple syrup, and sugar syrup
  • Lemon juice and lime juice for bright acidity
  • Cinnamon sticks, ground cinnamon, star anise, and rosemary sprigs
  • Ginger beer, ginger ale, soda water, and fresh ginger
  • Orange juice, cranberry juice, and orange liqueur
  • Angostura bitters and orange bitters
  • Dark rum, reposado tequila, apple brandy, sloe gin, and neutral grain spirit
  • Black tea, equal parts honey, and hot toddy-style elements
  • Pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spices, and graham cracker rims

You’ll also want a well-stocked bar setup including a cocktail shakercocktail glassrocks glasshighball glass, martini glassmason jar, or even a large pitcher depending on the occasion and personal preference.

Honey Ginger Syrup and Bourbon sounds good together. My son in law loves a good bourbon drink so this would be great to serve at the Thanksgiving holiday.
