How to Host A Fun Pizza Pajama Party!

Hosting a pizza pajama party is a fun and creative way to spend time with your friends and family! Our family’s love for making homemade pizza started during the pandemic, allowing us time to perfect a ton of creative recipes.

Creating the space, toppings, and vibe for guests to casually relax and view food as art they can eat, can be easily accomplished by following this inspirational guide. In this guide, I will share with you a few creative tips and essential steps on how to host a fun pizza pajama party!

Build a Guest List:

Take a look at the space you plan to use to host and determine how many guests can comfortably fit within your party space. You want to ensure you will have enough space for guests to spread out with their own pizza station. I created pizza station pairs for my party. I find that smaller groups are better for a more intimate and bonding evening. Once you build out a guest list, you’re ready to send out invitations!

Pizza Party Invitations:

You can set the tone for your event through invitations. Get creative and design invitations that may fit into the color theme for the evening (mine was tan and earth tones), or have fun with invitations that are shaped like pizza slices. For reference inspiration, the theme for our girl’s night was “Pizza and Pajamas”. I wanted the evening for the girls to be cozy, relaxed, and enjoyed over an indoor Italian inspired picnic.

You can design your invitations using Canva. Be sure to include the date, time, theme, and location on your invitation. I also recommend encouraging guests to RSVP so you know how much food to purchase for your pizza stations. Pizza Topping Selection:

Create a fun and memorable evening by curating a diverse pizza topping selection for your guests. You can offer classic toppings so that anyone can make a Margherita, pepperoni or vegetarian style pizza, but consider including unique toppings and sauces to spark creativity for your guests as well. I’ve always believed that food is art you can eat. As such, an artist could become bored if he only had 3-4 colors to paint with right?

Some unique toppings you could consider are: parmesan, fresh mozzarella, arugula, lettuce, basil, olives, jalapeños, banana peppers, mushrooms, onions, pineapple, tomatoes, bell peppers, pineapples, bacon, ham, sausage, ground beef, bbq chicken, rotisserie chicken, prosciutto, marinara sauce, pesto sauce, truffle oil, Alfredo sauce, thousand island dressing, taco sauce and more! Also check-in to see if any of your guests have any allergies so these ingredients are not included, and offer gluten-free options if needed.

Create an Inviting Pizza Party Atmosphere:

Transform your space into a relaxed pizza haven with creative decorations. For our pizza and pajama party, I wanted our decor to have a casual Italian indoor picnic feel. I used neutral colors so the food would pop against the tablescape.

I recommend setting your eating table and decor the day before, so the day-of prep is easy. Use low lights and faux candles to create a cozy ambiance. Consider having a polaroid camera handy as a nostalgic way for you to capture moments from the evening. I purchased all of my decor on Amazon:

DIY Pizza Station:

The highlight of hosting a pizza party is to creating an interactive element by setting up a DIY pizza station. I recommend providing pastry mats for each station, multiple pizza pans, and easy access to toppings and sauces.

What to Serve to Drink at a Pizza Party

I recommend offering a variety of craft beers, wine, or pizza-inspired cocktails. You can also pre-make a punch so guests can easily pour themselves something to drink. Don’t forget to provide non-alcoholic options like water, artisanal sodas (Trader Joe’s has an amazing selection) or mocktails for those who prefer a different kind of refreshment.

Create A Playlist:

Take the time to create a playlist for your pizza party (like on YouTube or Spotify), so you can enjoy nice background music throughout the evening. Youtube playlists can be a lot of fun if you want to have visuals to go with your cozy theme for the evening.
