I was inspired to make this iced latte thanks to my friends and followers on Instagram. For the past week week, this blog has showcased a series of techniques to creatively explore recipes with a lavender flavor and lavender flowers. Blending lavender simple syrup into a latte, cold brew, french press coffee, or a few shots of espresso is the perfect way to craft an enjoyable latte that’s coffee shop worthy. Whether you’re a coffee enthusiast or just looking for a new way to enjoy espresso, grab a cute glass or mason jar so you can dive into this delightful recipe!

One of my secrets to making an amazing lavender latte is frothing the milk and lavender syrup together before adding it to the latte. Infusing the lavender simple syrup into your favorite “milk” has several different benefits. Some of these include:

  • Improved texture – Frothing the milk will incorporate air, which will lead to a more velvety smooth latte.
  • Better Espresso Integration – Incorporating air into your latte “milk” mixture will also allow the frothed milk to mix more evenly with the espresso after stirring. This will enhance and balance the overall flavor of the latte.
  • Enhanced Flavor – Unlike Starbucks, this recipe uses the frothing process, which changes the oat milk slightly, making it more sweet, which will compliment the lavender and flavors found in the espresso. If you do not have access to an espresso machine, I recommend brewing two strong shots of Café Bustelo (not the blonde roast from Starbucks)

One key ingredient in this recipe is the lavender simple syrup. Lavender simple syrup will not make your coffee taste like soap. In fact, it will add nice floral notes to your beloved latte drink with just a few simple ingredients.   • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp dried lavender buds (culinary lavender)
  • 5-7 blueberries (optional to add purple color)

After brewing the lavender buds, you will need to run this syrup through a fine mesh strainer prior to using in this recipe. You will only need 1.5 oz of this lavender simple syrup for one serving in this recipe, but save and store your new syrup to enjoy more lavender lattes in the days to come! Lavender simple syrup can also be stored in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks as long as it is stored in an airtight container.

Now that we have a lavender simple syrup to infuse floral flavors into our latte, let’s gather the ingredients we will need for this Iced Lavender Oat Milk Latte:

  • 3 oz brewed espresso or extra strong cup of coffee
  • 6 oz oat milk, almond milk, or whole milk
  • 1.5 oz lavender simple syrup
  • Honey to drizzle
  • Ice cubes

The best kind of milk for an iced latte truly depends on your own personal preference and dietary preferences. This iced lavender oatmilk latte recipe is perfect if you want to drink dairy-free lattes, and enhance your everyday regular coffee. Below are a few options if you want a different milk mixture besides oat milk:

  • Whole Milk: Will provide a rich, creamy texture since it’s heavier in fat. Whole milk will have a slightly sweet flavor and foams very well when a milk frother is used. 
  • 2% Milk: Is a great option is you wish to have a creamy texture, without as much fat. 2% Milk is a popular choice for lattes since provides just enough fat without sacrificing flavor. 
  • Oat Milk: Oat milk is my personal favorite and a very popular non-dairy option for iced lattes. Oat milk, although dairy-free still has a sweet creamy texture. It’s also a great option for those with nut allergies. 
  • Almond Milk: Almond milk is another great dairy-free option. It carries a subtle nutty flavor that pairs well with coffee. However, you will find this option is not as creamy as milk and oat milk.
  • Soy Milk: Soy milk is the original popular non-dairy favorite amongst latte drinkers. Soy milk provides a good amount of creaminess that will not take away from the floral notes in this coffee. 
  • Coconut Milk: Is a bright, sweet, creamy option that adds a subtle tropical flare to lattes.

Starbucks Lavender Oatmilk Latte

Ingredients 

Iced Honey Lavender Oat Milk Latte

  • 6 oz Oat Milk
  • 1.5 oz Lavender Simple Syrup
  • 3 oz Espresso
  • Honey & Lavender Flower to Garnish
  • Ice

Instructions 

Iced Honey Lavender Oat Milk Latte

  • Brew 3 oz of espresso.
  • While your espresso is brewing, froth together 6 oz of oat milk and 1.5 oz of lavender simple syrup. Set lavender oat milk froth aside.
  • Take a tall glass, drizzle the inside of the glass with honey. Pour your lavender oat milk froth mixture into the glass, add ice, and top with 3 oz of your favorite espresso. Garnish with a lavender flower and enjoy!
