I recently planned a fun day trip with my friends, and we had an unforgettable time, complete with guided tastings, beautiful vineyards, and even a little live music. If you’re considering planning something similar, continue reading to learn my best tips for creating a memorable, stress-free, and joy-filled girls wine day. From transportation to winery tours, I’ve got everything covered for your next perfect outing!
Tip 1: Plan Your Transportation
If you have your group confirmed, consider booking transportation services with a professional driver or personal tour guide. This ensures a safe, carefree experience for everyone. No need to worry about drinking and driving. Many companies offer private tours, public tours, or even small-group winery tours with perks like complimentary pickup, climate-controlled vehicles, and safe return transportation. A relaxing drive past scenic countryside and beautiful vineyards sets the tone for a perfect day. And as a courtesy, don’t forget to tip your driver or bus driver!

Tip 2: Bring Snacks for the Ride
Start your trip early and pack light snacks for the group. Some easy favorites include cheese, crackers, deli meat, fruit, chocolate, or even gourmet foods if you’re planning a delicious picnic lunch. This keeps everyone energized and ready for a day of tasting delicious wine.
Tip 3: Personalize Tumbler Cups
Add a special touch by buying personalized tumbler cups with lids and straws. They prevent spills, protect lipstick, and add a fun keepsake to your girls wine day. You can order tumblers on Amazon and vinyl name stickers on Etsy. These small details turn an ordinary outing into a memorable day.

Tip 4: Bring Wine Bags
As you visit different vineyards, your group may want to take home unique wines or fine wines from their favorite tasting rooms. Make things easier by bringing wine bags in advance so no one has to juggle multiple bottles. This is especially helpful if your trip includes multiple wineries or a second location.
Tip 5: Choose a Variety of Vineyards
Everyone’s taste buds are different. Some prefer sweet wines, others love dry Cabernet Sauvignon or regional wines from different wine regions. When planning, choose vineyards that offer a range of options, guided tastings, and different wine experiences. Here in North Carolina, some of our favorite stops are Childress Vineyards, Windsor Run Cellars, or JOLO. Each of these locations feature award-winning wines, local distillery tastings, and a fun atmosphere.

Tip 6: Pre-book Your Reservations
To avoid long wait times and ensure each participating winery can accommodate your group, be sure to book your reservations in advance. Confirm everything 24 hours before your trip and consider giving each vineyard a courtesy call when you’re 15 – 30 minutes away so their staff is ready to greet you.
Tip 7: Share an Itinerary Ahead of Time
Once everything is booked, build excitement by sending your itinerary to the group. This lets everyone browse menus, tasting options, food pairings, and gift shop details in advance.

Tip 8: Start a Group Chat
Start a group chat before your girls wine day so everyone can stay connected, share photos, and coordinate details. It’s a fun and easy way to build anticipation and keep track of memories throughout the trip.
Tip 9: Bring Water!
Don’t forget to bring bottled water for the group to stay hydrated throughout the day. If you’re booking a car service, they may provide water as well, so be sure to just check ahead.
Tip 10: Create a fun playlist!
A carefully curated playlist can make the whole experience more enjoyable. Start with slower, easygoing music during your morning scenic drive, then gradually bump up the energy as your day progresses.

I hope you love this list of tips and ideas for planning the perfect girls wine day. Whether you’re exploring local wineries, taking scenic wine cruises, or booking private tastings of 5 – 6 wines, spending the day sipping delicious wine with your favorite people is always a perfect way to relax and celebrate life. Pre-booking is so important. You can’t just stroll into a winery and expect there to be openings. Oftentimes, there aren’t!
Planning is so important! I remember years ago, we headed to a winery in the area on a trip thinking that it would be easy to get in. I have never seen a winery so crowded. We definitely did not get a tour. LOL
