After a few incredible trips to Cabo San Lucas, I can confidently say this destination lives up to the hype. Our first visit was extra special, celebrating close friends’ anniversary in true “framily” style, and we were instantly captivated by Cabo’s golden beaches, dramatic desert coastline, and vibrant culture. Returning for a second trip for another anniversary gave us the chance to dive deeper, exploring local favorites, hidden gems, and experiences beyond the resort scene. Whether you’re planning your first getaway or looking for insider tips, this guide is packed with lessons learned and must-see highlights from multiple visits to this unforgettable corner of Mexico.

Where is Cabo Mexico?
Cabo San Lucas, often simply called “Cabo,” is a popular resort city located at the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula in Mexico, where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez. It’s part of the state of Baja California Sur and is about a two-hour flight from major U.S. cities like Los Angeles and Dallas, making it a popular getaway for both American and international travelers. Known for its rugged desert landscapes, dramatic rock formations like El Arco (The Arch), vibrant nightlife, and luxury resorts, Cabo is a year-round destination that blends natural beauty with world-class hospitality.

What is the best time to go to Los Cabos, San Lucas?
From my experience, the best time to visit Cabo is late October through May when the weather is sunny, warm, and perfect for beach days without the intense summer heat. This window also avoids hurricane season and is ideal for whale watching (December–April).

Cabo Mexico All-Inclusive Resorts
During our time in Cabo, we stayed at one of the most beautiful resorts I’ve ever seen, enjoyed fantastic adventures and discovered hidden gems to dine at outside of the resort. There were too many unforgettable experiences for me not to share our top favorites. Continue reading as I share details on our resort, top restaurants and fun excursions to enjoy while in Cabo!

A Must Stay Resort – La Garza Blanca
La Garza Blanca is a beautiful luxury resort with the option to purchase an all-inclusive package. During most of our vacations, we typically like to explore outside of the resort property. So we decided to not purchase the all-inclusive package. However, if you do opt-in to the all-inclusive package, the resort has a variety of restaurants with beautiful views for you to choose from without feeling like you do not have meal variety during your stay.

Some of our favorite features of the resort were the ability to order room service from our TV, the balcony hammocks, and the ultra lux oceanfront infinity pool on the resort’s rooftop.

The staff was very professional and friendly the entire week, and the property itself was airy and modern. The gym also contained some very nice equipment with a lot of options. The only thing about this resort we were not too fond of were the spa prices and not being able to get into the ocean due to rip tides. However, we found another beautiful spa not too far away, which I will share below.

Breathless Cabo San Lucas All-Inclusive Resort
Breathless Cabo San Lucas All-Inclusive Resort sits right on a lively marina, giving you gorgeous waterfront views and easy access to Cabo’s vibrant nightlife. If you’re looking for an adults-only, all-inclusive escape, this is a nice option for you to consider. This breathless location has beautiful infinity pools, lively entertainment, and gourmet dining options that go beyond typical resort fare.

Dining at Breathless Cabo San Lucas
If you decide to spend the day in your room, you can relax in comfort and enjoy the resort’s 24-hour room service. We personally enjoyed in-room breakfast each morning during our stay, while admiring the beautiful sunrises over the marina. For those feeling adventurous enough to explore beyond the Breathless property, downtown Cabo is just a few steps away, offering plenty of restaurants and attractions within easy walking distance.

Cabo Mexico Things to Do
Cabo San Lucas offers more than just views, this vibrant destination is packed with exciting adventures, cultural experiences, and hidden gems. From snorkeling around El Arco to exploring downtown’s lively marina scene, there’s no shortage of unforgettable things to do in Cabo.
Book a Cooking Class with a Local Chef
During our time in Cabo, we had the pleasure of spending time with Chef Ari (@kuaprivatechefservice), the owner of Kua Private Chef Service. Chef Ari and her staff were incredible! She invited us into her beautiful private villa, shared her inspiring story of using her talents to uplift young girls, and taught us how to prepare some of the following authentic Mexican dishes from scratch:
- Homemade Salsa Recipe
- Homemade Tortillas Recipe
- Enchiladas Recipe

Chef Ari left a lasting impression on me. Not only did we learn how to make the amazing dishes listed above, but we also enjoyed our creations poolside, overlooking Cabo’s stunning beach and coastline. If you’d like to book this experience during your next visit to Cabo, you can do so through Viator.

Cabo Adventures
If you’re looking for some fun activities to get into while you’re in Cabo, I recommend booking a package through Cabo Adventures. This tour group was very convenient and picked us up from our resort on a bus, and returned us safely. Every guide we met was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable about the area. Here are some of the exciting activities we booked through our Cabo Adventures package:

Eco Farm
This was the first stop on our adventure package, and it was such an entertaining experience! Our tour guide, Issac, had a genuine passion for eco-friendly conservation and sustainability. During this short tour, we learned how paper is made from organic materials and got to visit his charming rescue farm. Issac, a true animal lover, introduced us to Gorda, his rescued sheep, as well as his adorable pony.

Camel Ride Safari
When we first purchased tickets for a camel ride, I was honestly a little confused! My only experience with camels had been in the desert in Marrakech, Morocco, and all I could see around me was sand and beach. As I tried to picture how this was going to work, our group was greeted by an animated tour guide named Abdul, though he insisted we call him Pablo!

Pablo led us to a tent where we were given helmets for safety and explained that we’d be enjoying a relaxing 20-minute stroll along the beach. Twenty minutes might not sound like much, but trust me, it was plenty of time and absolutely unforgettable! Cell phones aren’t allowed during this portion of the tour, so guests are asked to leave them in a secure box before heading out. Don’t worry though, a professional photographer joins you on the ride, capturing beautiful moments that no cell phone photo could replicate.

ATV Desert Adventure
This was probably my husband’s favorite part of the entire tour – the ATVs! If you book this experience, don’t wear anything nice, you’ll be completely covered in dirt by the end, but it’s absolutely worth it for the adventure. Our guide, Mario, recommended bringing gloves for extra comfort, and the team provided plenty of protective gear to keep us safe. We had plenty of time to explore the Mexican desert at full throttle, and the whole experience was an adrenaline rush from start to finish!

Solmar Spa Collection
One afternoon, a few of us decided to slip away to another resort for a luxurious yet surprisingly affordable spa experience. We visited the Playa Grande Spa, part of the Solmar Spa Collection, and were greeted by a beautiful space with warm, rustic mountain-inspired design. I highly recommend booking a spa package here. After your treatment, don’t miss their stunning saltwater rooftop pool, and be sure to order lunch before you leave to round out a perfect afternoon of relaxation.

Billygan’s Beach Club
Billygan’s Beach Club is a great place to visit for a casual beachside lunch paired with fun seaside activities like snorkeling and jet skiing. It’s family-friendly and perfect for a laid-back afternoon, but I highly recommend taking an Uber. The parking in this area can be quite tricky to find.

Private Sunset Sail
If you’re looking for a relaxing way to wind down in the evening, I highly recommend booking a private sunset sail through Cabo Adventures. Our group was even lucky enough to spot a few whales during our tour!

Best Places to Eat in Cabo Mexico
Edith’s
The moment we stepped into Edith’s for dinner, it felt like we had slipped into another Latin world. The aromas, vibrant décor, and atmosphere were absolutely captivating, turning dinner into a full-on experience. You. Must. Visit. Edith’s. During. Your. Trip! Some of the best food we had in Cabo was served here, and our server, Antonio, made the evening even more memorable. He prepared the best Caesar salad I’ve ever tasted!

Cocina Del Mar
Hands down, the most romantic restaurant of all of our trips was at Cocina Del Mar. I highly recommend visiting just before sunset to take in the breathtaking views as the sun dips behind the ocean’s edge, painting the sky in unforgettable colors while you enjoy dinner. There isn’t a bad seat in the house, with mostly outdoor seating that makes the experience feel intimate and serene. Our table loved every seafood dish we tried, all while relaxing to the soft guitar music from a live band that set the perfect mood for the evening.

Chambao Steakhouse
We celebrated another friend’s anniversary at Chambao, and it was an unforgettable experience!

This spot is perfect for groups, offering an upscale yet lively atmosphere that feels like a full-on event. The food was exceptional, but what truly set Chambao apart were the dramatic tableside presentations and entertainment—think next-level shows that were as Instagrammable as they were impressive. It’s the kind of place where every detail feels curated for a memorable night out in Cabo.

Rooftop 360
Okay, so admittedly I was hesitant to add this to my list, but I’ll give you some parameters to consider if you decide to visit. If you’re looking for a beautiful spot for drinks and views, Rooftop 360 is a great place to start your evening before moving on to your next stop. The views from the rooftop are stunning, and the drinks were very good as well. However, if you’re planning to come with a large group for dinner, save yourself the headache, this isn’t the place for large parties. The service was extremely slow (if your food arrived at all), though they may have been short-staffed that night. Regardless, if I visit Cabo again, I’d only come back here for a quick drink and some photos.

Las Guacamayas
Las Guacamayas is a true hidden taco gem in Cabo. If you’re a taco lover, this neighborhood spot is a must-visit for an afternoon or late-night bite. The service was super fast, and every ingredient tasted fresh and flavorful! Keep in mind that it’s an open-air restaurant, so if you’re visiting in the heat of summer, it might feel a bit warm while you eat. One of my favorite things about Las Guacamayas was seeing so many locals dining there—it’s a sure sign of authentic, non-touristy Mexican food. If you’re craving a true taste of Cabo, this is the place to go!
