This year we traveled to Cabo Mexico for the first time with some of our closest friends … well more like “framily”, to celebrate their anniversary! It was nice to get away from everyday life and immerse ourselves in the beautiful city of Cabo San Lucas.
During our time in Cabo, we stayed at one of the most beautiful resorts I’ve ever seen, enjoyed fantastic adventures and discovered hidden gems to dine at outside of the resort. There were too many unforgettable experiences for me not to share our top favorites. Continue reading as I share details on our resort, top restaurants and fun excursions to enjoy while in Cabo!
A Must Stay Resort – La Garza Blanca
La Garza Blanca is a beautiful luxury resort with the option to purchase an all-inclusive package. During most of our vacations, we typically like to explore outside of the resort property. So we decided to not purchase the all-inclusive package. However, if you do opt-in to the all-inclusive package, the resort has a variety of restaurants with beautiful views for you to choose from without feeling like you do not have meal variety during your stay.
Some of our favorite features of the resort were the ability to order room service from our TV, the balcony hammocks, and the ultra lux oceanfront infinity pool on the resort’s rooftop.
The staff was very professional and friendly the entire week, and the property itself was airy and modern. The gym also contained some very nice equipment with a lot of options. The only thing about this resort we were not too fond of were the spa prices and not being able to get into the ocean due to rip tides. However, we found another beautiful spa not too far away, which I will share below.

Fun Activities to Enjoy While Visiting
If you’re looking for some fun activities to get into while you’re in Cabo, I recommend booking a package through Cabo Adventures. This tour group was very convenient and picked us up from our resort on a bus, and returned us safely. All of the tour guides involved in the itinerary were very professional and knowledgeable. Here were some of the fun activities we booked through our Cabo Adventures package:
This was the first stop as part of our adventure package and was quite entertaining! Our tour guide was Issac and he shared a lovely passion for eco-friendly conservation and sustainability. During this brief tour, you will learn how paper is made from other organic materials and you will have a chance to stop by his small rescue farm. Issac is a true animal lover who introduced us to his rescued sheep who’s name is Gorda, and his adorable pony.
When we initially purchased our tickets for a camel ride, I was honestly super confused! My only experience with camels were in the desert and all I could see was sand and beach. As I was trying to figure out how we were going to see and ride camels, our group was greeted by an animated tour guide by the name of Abdul (but he told us to call him Pablo) lol!
Pablo guided us over to a tent to hand each of us helmets for our safety and explained we were going to enjoy a relaxing 20 minute stroll on the beach! Twenty minutes does not sound like a lot of time, but trust me, it was plenty and so much fun! You cannot take your cell phones with you during this portion of the tour, so you’re asked to leave them in a secure box before leaving. However, a professional photographer will join you on your journey to capture moments that could never come from a cell phone.
This was probably my husband’s favorite part of the entire tour – the ATV’s! If you book this tour, do not wear anything nice! You will be covered in dirt by the end of the ride, but man is it worth the adventure! Our tour guide was Mario and he advised that if you’re planning to take this tour, to try and bring gloves for the ride. You’re given lot of protective equipment and have a good amount of time to escape into the Mexican desert with your tour guide. This tour was an adrenaline rush for sure!
One afternoon, a few of the ladies (and the special couple!) decided to escape to another resort for a luxury yet reasonably priced spa experience. We decided to explore the Solmar Spa collection, and more specifically visited the Playa Grande Spa property. This was a lovely spa establishment with rustic mountain feels. I recommend booking a package for the ultimate experience that includes a massage and reflexology for example. After your service, you should definitely checkout their salt water rooftop pool and order lunch before leaving.
Billygan’s Beach Club is a great place to visit if you want to grab lunch one afternoon on the beach and enjoy some fun seaside activities such as snorkeling and jet ski’s. This place is family friendly, but I recommend catching an Uber here. Parking was very difficult to find in this area.
If you’re looking for a relaxing way to wind down the afternoon, I recommend booking a private sunset sail through Cabo Adventures as well. Our group was fortunate enough to even spot a few whales during our tour! They serve light snacks and drinks on board as well during your sail. If you have a friendly enough staff, they may even allow you to play some of your favorite music through their bluetooth speaker that’s on the boat.
Top Restaurants to Visit in Cabo
The moment we stepped into Edith’s for dinner one night, I automatically felt as if our group slipped into another Latin world! Not only was the smell and decor of this place captivating, the entire dinner was an overall experience! You. Must. Visit. Edith’s. During. Your. Trip! Some of the best food from our trip was served here and our server Antonio, literally served up the best Caesar salad I’ve ever enjoyed!
Hands down the most beautiful and even romantic restaurant of the entire trip was Cocina Del Mar. I recommend visiting here just before sunset to catch the beautiful views as the sun paints a memorable goodbye behind the ocean edge while you enjoy dinner. There’s literally not a bad seat throughout the restaurant and it was mostly outdoor seating. Our table was a fan of all of the seafood, and we enjoyed the subtle guitar sounds coming from the live band that relaxed us throughout our meal.

Okay, so admittedly I was hesitant to add this to my list, but I will give you some parameters to consider if you decide to visit here. If you’re looking for a beautiful place for drinks and views, come here to start your evening and then move on to the next spot. The views from their rooftop were absolutely beautiful and the drinks were very good as well. However, if you decide to come here with a large group to eat, save yourself the headache and avoid this for large dinner parties. The service here is very slow, if your food came at all. Perhaps they were short staffed. Regardless, if I visit Cabo again in the future, I would only come here for a quick drink and photos.

Las Guacamayas is a taco hidden gem in Cabo. If you’re a taco lover, then you have to stop into the neighborhood taco joint one afternoon or night. The service was super fast, and all of the ingredients were fresh! Do keep in mind that this is an open air restaurant. So if you visit in the summer when it’s blazing hot, you may not enjoy your meal as much here. One thing I loved about eating at Las Guacamayas was I actually saw a lot of locals sitting here and eating. So if you’re looking for great Mexican food that is not touristy, you should give this place a try!
If you’re reading this, I hope you have a chance to visit Cabo very soon! I came here for the first time with no expectations, but left pleasantly surprised! I have to say I enjoyed Cabo much more than Cancun, and I would love to visit here again in the future. If you have any must visit recommendations for Cabo San Lucas, please let me know in the comments below!
