A few weeks ago, we took a day trip to this beautiful property. If you’re on the east coast, and don’t want to travel all the way to Napa Valley to enjoy great wine and views, here are some great travel tips for visiting Chateau Elan Resort and Winery:

Planning Your Trip:

  • Book Everything Online in Advance: Chateau Elan is a popular destination with a variety of activities beyond just wine tasting. You can take a cooking class, visit the spa, take a cheese and charcuterie board class, and more! So I recommend making reservations ahead of time online, especially if you’re visiting on a weekend. If you’re planning a girls trip to this winery, be sure to checkout my post sharing unique ideas to make this a memorable girls trip!

  • Plan a Winery Tour and Tasting: Chateau Elan is a beautiful property. So if you’re planning to visit this beautiful winery and resort, I recommend booking the wine tour + tasting (currently called the “Chateau Wine Tasting”), instead of casually visiting the tasting room. The staff here is very knowledgeable, and with this booking, you’re given a behind the scenes sneak peek of their wine making process, with proper tasting techniques.
  • Make Brunch, Lunch, or Dinner Reservations: Chateau Elan is located in Braselton, GA, which is around 45 minutes northeast from central Atlanta depending on traffic. After exploring the area, there are not a lot of standout food choices in the area. Therefore, I recommend exploring one of Chateau Elan’s many dining options and make reservations for your visit in advance. During our visit, we enjoyed brunch at Versailles Restaurant & Bar.

  • Spa Services & Golfing: Chateau Elan offers amazing spa services. You have the opportunity to book a variety of facials, massages, body treatments, and couple experiences. If some traveling with you are not excited about visiting the spa, I definitely. recommend booking time at Chateau Elan’s championship golf courses.
  • Book an Overnight Stay: Chateau Elan recently renovated their accommodations. They have a variety of spacious, modern rooms and suites available for booking. So why not take time and make a weekend trip out of your visit? During your stay, you could also take time to relax by the pool and explore multiple activities on the property.

This is a helpful downloadable checklist you can print and reuse time and time again to stay fully prepared for all your travels!

Learn How to Make the Perfect Charcuterie Board:

One of our favorite activities from visiting Chateau Elan was their Charcuterie Workshop! During our visit, we met an amazing charcuterie board teacher named Amy and she guided us through some of the most amazing board creations and top notch pairings! Some of our favorite pairings from the class were:

Favorite Workshop Pairings:

  • Rosemary Cracker + Brie + Honey + Blueberry + Rosemary
  • Rosemary Cracker + Brie + Honey + Candied Pecan
  • Rosemary Cracker + Blueberry Goat Cheese + Bresola Beef Tenderloin + Honey + Rosemary

These pairings were so amazing! We enjoyed these with a glass of Pinot Grigio Reserve, and it absolutely transformed the taste of this wine into a buttery Chardonnay.

Wine and Grape Options at Chateau Elan:

In speaking with the staff at Chateau Elan, they educated us on the variety of wines offered at the resort, some of which mimic traditional European-style wines. Chateau Elan’s wine style also incorporates wine characteristics known to the North Georgia region, with a large selection of sweet wines available. During our visit, we discovered the following types of grapes as part of our tour and tasting:

  • Chardonnay
  • Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Merlot
  • Cabernet Franc
  • Syrah/Shiraz
  • Viognier
  • Muscadine
  • Norton

Throughout our tasting experience I found a lot of Chateau Elan’s wines to be more on the sweet side. If you love a good sweet wine, then this is the winery for you! Chateau Elan is known for its Muscadine wines, which is very popular in the southern region of the United States.

They also sold port wines in their general tasting area. Chateau Elan’s wine’s are very affordable and in my opinion of acceptable quality. If you’re a lover of crisp wine wines, I have to say that the Pinot Griot Reserve was my favorite wine of the day. This wine as very versatile and perfect for serving at dinner parties to please a crowd majority.
