Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- Full of Flavor: Every bite is seasoned with a homemade dry rub featuring garlic powder, onion powder, and Adobo seasoning.
- Tender and Juicy: Baking under aluminum foil locks in moisture, making these turkey wings fall-off-the-bone tender.
- Simple & Family-Friendly: Just toss everything in a casserole dish or roasting pan. No need to worry about whole turkey, this is super easy to make!

Turkey Wing Ingredients:
- Turkey Wings – Look for fresh turkey wings with the wing tips still attached for maximum flavor. When baked low and slow, they become bone tender turkey wings that practically fall apart.
- Celery – Adds a fresh aroma and savory crunch that balances the richness of the wings. The celery helps flavor the own juices that form during baking.
- Onion – Sweet onions add depth and sweetness, enhancing the homemade gravy and giving the dish that classic smothered turkey wings flavor.
- Green Bell Pepper – A staple in Southern cooking, bell pepper brings color and a touch of mild spice to your baking dish or casserole dish.
- Fresh Italian Parsley – Brightens the dish and adds fresh herbal notes that complement the Adobo seasoning and sage.
- Garlic Powder – A must-have seasoning that infuses every bite with savory flavor. Pairs beautifully with onion powder for an aromatic base.
- Seasoned Salt – Adds savor and enhances all the natural flavors from the turkey and vegetables.
- Onion Powder – Provides a mild, concentrated onion flavor that helps create that comforting Southern roast turkey taste.
- Ground Sage – A traditional herb often used in savory recipes; it gives that signature smothered southern-style aroma.
- Ground Thyme – Earthy and aromatic, thyme rounds out the seasoning mix and makes your wings taste like a whole turkey in half the time.
- Water – Combines with flour to create a silky gravy base.
- Adobo Seasoning – Adds a subtle, savory kick and enhances the seasoned wings with a poultry seasoning flavor.
- All-Purpose Flour – Helps thicken the gravy that forms from the own juices of the turkey while baking.

How to Bake Turkey Wings i
Follow these simple steps for the best baked turkey wings. Your wings will turn out juicy, seasoned to perfection, and baked until bone tender.

STEP 1: Preheat and Prep – Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Pat the turkey wings dry with a paper towel and let them come to room temperature for 15–20 minutes to ensure even cooking and crispy skin. Lightly coat a casserole dish or baking dish with a bit of vegetable oil to prevent sticking. Chop all veggies – celery, onion, green bell pepper, and parsley. Set aside.

STEP 2: Season the Wings – In a large mixing bowl, combine garlic powder, onion powder, seasoned salt, ground sage, thyme, and Adobo seasoning. Toss the wings until coated in an even dry rub, massaging both sides to lock in flavor. Add chopped celery, onion, green bell pepper, and parsley to the dish, spreading everything into an even layer.

STEP 3: Make the Gravy Mixture – In a small bowl, whisk together water (or chicken stock, chicken broth, or turkey stock) with Adobo seasoning and flour until smooth. Pour this mixture over the seasoned wings. As they bake, the wings will cook in their own juices, creating a rich, flavorful gravy.

STEP 4: Bake Until Bone Tender – Cover tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for about 2½ hours until the wings are bone tender. For a golden finish, remove the foil and roast uncovered for 10–15 minutes, or broil on the lowest setting until the skin side turns crisp. Use a meat thermometer to confirm an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). Serve your smothered turkey wings over rice with collard greens and beans for the perfect comfort meal!

Turkey Wing Storage & Reheating Tips
- Storing Leftovers: Let your baked turkey wings cool completely before storing. Place them in an airtight container along with a little of their gravy or own juices to keep them moist. Store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
- Freezing: To freeze, place the wings and gravy in a freezer-safe bag or container, removing as much air as possible. Label with the date, and freeze for up to 3 months. When ready to enjoy, thaw overnight in the refrigerator.
- Reheating: For best results, reheat in the oven at 300°F (150°C) in a covered baking dish until warmed through. Add a splash of chicken stock or turkey stock to revive the gravy and keep the meat juicy. If you’re short on time, you can also reheat in the microwave on medium heat in 30-second intervals, stirring the gravy between each round.

Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the secret to bone-tender turkey wings?
Slow baking in a covered casserole dish or roasting pan allows steam and own juices to tenderize the meat.
Should I remove the aluminum foil?
Yes, remove it near the end for golden, crispy skin. Keep an eye on it so it doesn’t over-brown.
What if I’m watching my daily values or on a calorie diet?
Skip the vegetable oil, trim excess skin, and use a light chicken stock for a lighter option without sacrificing flavor.
