Previously my Hennessy Margarita recipe was a subscriber favorite on this blog, but I believe the sweet, tangy, herbal notes of this recipe will give my previous recipe a run for its money! Be sure to checkout this recipe as well for a more in-depth tutorial video on making margaritas from scratch.

  1. Use a Good Quality Tequila – There are sooo many popular tequila brands found in the market. However, don’t let popular brands and labels deceive you. Be sure to choose a good quality tequila that is made from 100% agave (aka 100% agave azul). Some tequila brands will say “100% agave”, but these often contain other additives. This recipe uses a Mezcal tequila, which is known to have a bright, rich, smoky taste.
  2. Select Fresh Ingredients – To take any margarita recipe to the next level, ALWAYS use fresh ingredients where possible. Fresh lime juice, lemon juice, herbs, ripe fruits and more. To keep this recipe simple, I used pineapple juice below instead of real pineapple. However, my preference is to muddle fresh pineapple chunks instead of juice. Fresh pineapple will elevate this recipe even more if used!
  3. Use Plenty of Ice – Ice is so important to make a good margarita. No one enjoys drinking a warm cocktail! As shown in the tutorial video, be sure to use plenty of ice when shaking your margarita. You also want to ensure you serve your margarita chilled over ice.
