Prepare one green tea bag, let it steep and cool. ( I personally heated up a cup of filtered water in a microwave safe cup for 30 seconds, and added my tea bag afterwards to steep for a few minutes)
In a tall glass of choice, add lime, mint, simple syrup, and sweet and sour mix. Muddle lightly around 10 times as to not bruise the mint. (This is not traditional, but I find muddling the mint with syrup & sour mix infuses & distributes the mint oils better throughout the drink.)
To your tall glass, add rum, green tea, and ice. Be sure to fill your entire glass with ice so there is not a lot of room left for the soda. Top off with soda water. Stir and serve. Enjoy!
- Brew the green tea ahead of time and allow it to fully chill before making the mojito. Warm tea can water down the drink and melt the ice too quickly.
- Fresh mint leaves provide the best flavor. Gently muddle the mint to release the oils without over-crushing the leaves, which can make the drink taste bitter.
- Adjust the sweetness to your preference by adding more or less simple syrup, honey syrup, or sweetener of choice.
- Sparkling water or club soda should be added right before serving to keep the drink crisp and bubbly.
- For a stronger citrus flavor, add additional fresh lime juice or garnish with extra lime slices.
- This recipe can easily be made as a mocktail by omitting the alcohol while still keeping the refreshing mojito flavor.
- Serve over crushed ice for a classic mojito-style presentation and extra refreshment on warm days.
- Garnish with fresh mint sprigs, lime wheels, or a light dusting of matcha powder for an elevated presentation.
