This sausage cheese dip is a creamy, crowd-pleasing appetizer made with ground beef, Jimmy Dean sausage, Velveeta cheese, and salsa for the perfect balance of rich and savory flavor. It comes together easily on the stovetop and stays warm beautifully in a slow cooker, making it ideal for game day, parties, and casual entertaining.
Cut the Velveeta cheese into 1-inch cubes and set aside. In a medium pot over medium heat, begin to brown the pork sausage. It does not need to be fully cooked yet, allow some of the fat to render for flavor.
Add the ground beef to the pot along with the onion powder, garlic powder, and Cajun seasoning. Continue cooking over medium heat, breaking the meat into sausage crumbles, until fully cooked through. Carefully drain off any excess grease.
Return the pot to medium-low heat with the cooked meat and add the cubed Velveeta cheese and chunky salsa. Stir frequently until the cheese is completely melted and the dip is smooth and fully combined.
Transfer the dip to a slow cooker or warming dish to keep warm for serving. Serve immediately with tortilla chips. Enjoy!
